April Cohorts of ECTs and Mentors

Welcome to the new ECTs and Mentors who are joining us in the April 2024 Cohort!

By now, you should have received details of your Induction Days and training sessions and information about the Teach First ECF Programme and the Brightspace learning platform.

We have a dedicated ECF Project Co-ordinator, Jen Hamer, who is available to answer any queries about your training programme. Jen works closely with our Appropriate Body Co-ordinator, Cath O’Neill, who is the first port of call for any support with the statutory induction elements of the Early Career Framework.

We are looking forward to seeing our April 2023 ECTs begin their second year of training at their Year 2 Induction session on Thursday 18th April from 9.00-12.30 (see details above).

Here you will find out more about Year 2 of the programme and how the Development Cycles build on the modules covered in Year 1 and support you in your second year of teaching.

Following the induction, you will join our existing cohorts of Year 2 ECTs in their phase and subject specific groups. More information about this will be shared at your induction session, where Jen Hamer will be available to answer your questions.

New Registrations

If you still need to register an ECT who is starting this term, it is not too late, but the steps below need to be completed ASAP! 😊

  1. Register ECT with the Appropriate Body using this link: https://generate.ectmanager.com/Login.aspx. If you are a new school you will need to fill the ‘Register your School’ blue box, on the right of this document.
  1. Register ECT and mentor on the DfE portal https://manage-training-for-early-career-teachers.education.gov.uk. If you don’t have an account for this you can click ‘request access’ at the bottom and it will guide you through the process of registering.

Change in circumstances and withdrawals from the ECF

There are many times during the school year, when an ECT may leave a school. Don’t forget to let us know so we can withdraw them from the ECF programme and pause their training until they take up a new post.

In order to confirm a change in circumstance or withdrawal, please email ecf@wpat.uk and include:

  • ECT/Mentor name and school with the change or withdrawal reason.
  • If a deferral (such as for maternity leave) the expected return date.
  • If an ECT is leaving, whether the mentor will continue training or withdraw.

Feedback please 😊

Our team would welcome feedback from ECTs, Mentors, Induction Tutors and leaders involved in the ECF.

We can also answer any questions you may have on its structure and local delivery. Do contact us on ecf@wpat.uk
