Appropriate Body Registrations 2022/23 

This page provides information for Induction Tutors who need to complete Reviews and Assessments for Early Career Teachers enrolled on Generate Teaching Hub’s Appropriate Body service for the academic year 2022/23 only.

Generate Teaching Hub provides an Appropriate Body service and assess an Early Career Teacher’s (ECT) induction; we report on progress for each teacher to the Teacher Regulation Agency.

To register with our service, school leaders need to complete a registration form (see the relevant documents below) for the chosen Early Career Framework route your school has adopted. Once submitted our team will be in touch to explain the necessary assessment plans.

The Appropriate Body service is separate from the Early Career Framework programme. The Appropriate Body service provides an assessment of a new teacher’s suitability to teach. The Early Career Framework provides a development package to support a new teacher. Schools are required to ensure new teachers engage with BOTH services.

Fully Funded ECF (also known as the Full Induction Programme), e.g., for those registered on our Teach First ECF programme:

This option requires no additional fidelity checks by the Appropriate Body reducing the service cost and time involved for schools (as well as enabling the school to access additional mentor time grant from the DfE).

DfE Accredited Materials used by a school (also known as the Core Induction Programme):

This route requires a series of fidelity checks on the programme the school develops and a deeper depth of reporting by the school for each ECT; the school is not able to access the mentor grant.

• DfE Appropriate Body Guidance

Schools opting for this route should submit a pre-programme review in advance of the induction period starting, and then provide a completed registration form for each ECT and return it to hub@wpat.uk to join our service.

Schools that are designing and delivering their own ECF programme (also known as the School Led Induction Programme):

This route requires an indepth set of fidelity checks on the programme the school devises and a comprehensive report on each ECT’s progress; this is the most costly option due to the extra work involved for the Appropriate Body and school. Also, the school cannot access the additional grant for mentor time.

Schools opting for this route should submit a pre-programme review in advance of the induction period starting, and then provide a completed registration form for each ECT and return it to hub@wpat.uk to join our service.

The fees for the above services in 2022/23 are as follows:

• £117 per ECT per term – Full Induction ECF Programme with Generate Teaching Hub / Teach First
• £167 per ECT per term – Full Induction ECF Programme with another provider
• £317 per ECT per term – Core Induction ECF Programme
• £517 per ECT per term – School Led Induction ECF Programme

A 10% discount is offered for the 2nd and subsequent ECTs if a school is registering more than one teacher for the service. Invoices are sent in the Summer term to allow for changes / additions to the registrations.

Please note that from September 2023, the DfE have set changes in place for the Appropriate Body service. only Teaching School Hubs can be appointed as the Appropriate Body for new ECTs. From September 2024, all outstanding ECTs registered with the Local Authorities for Appropriate Body services will need to be transferred to a Teaching School Hub provider.
