Induction Tutor Updates

Register your January 2025 ECTs and Mentors

Whilst we have sped through term 1 of the 24/25 academic year, please make sure that you register your ECTs and Mentors that are starting their training/induction this coming January.

• All ECTs and Mentors need to be registered on the DfE portal to formally register their training and gain access to the online learning platform.
• All ECTs need to have their Induction registered with an Appropriate Body. 

ECT and mentor training starts shortly after the return from Christmas break, so please ensure you complete both elements of registration before the end of term.

Autumn Term Submissions

On 22nd November, Progress Review forms and Formal and Final Assessment forms were released and are available on ECT Manager for Induction Tutors to complete.  Once completed, ECTs will be able to access the forms to read and add their comments, before they are digitally signed and submitted.  Remember that the ECT and Induction Tutor should meet to discuss the contents of the report and agree on the next steps for development.  ECTs should reflect on their progress so far and Progress Reviews and Formal Assessments are formal documents where this can be recorded.  There are some good examples of ECT comments in the Resources Section of ECT Manager to support this.

It was great to see so many Induction Tutors at our latest online briefing about completing Progress Reviews and Formal Assessments.  Thank you for attending – we hope you found it useful.  If you were unable to attend, do contact hub@wpat.uk and we can send you a recording of the session, which focused on evidencing how ECTs are working towards/meeting the Teachers’ Standards.  There is also lots of helpful information in the Resources Section of ECT Manager.  Take a look at the Generate Guides to support you in writing your reviews and assessments.

The deadline for submission is 6th December.

After this date, system generated reminders will be sent by ECT Manager until the signed and completed forms are submitted.  There are comprehensive user manuals on ECT Manager to support you in navigating the system and completing your reports.  However, do contact Cath O’Neill, AB Co-ordinator, if you require any support coneill@wpat.uk

We communicate to schools registered for the Appropriate Body via our ECT Manager system.  Messages regularly go to Induction Tutors, Headteachers and ECTs so if you haven’t received one recently please check your spam/junk folder.
