Initial Teaching Training News
DfE Apply Open
The DfE Apply portal opened in October allowing those interested in teacher training to apply to their preferred providers.
Generate Teaching Hub offers teacher training routes into Primary teaching for 5-11 years, 3-7 years and in SEN for PGCE and QTS – we also have an Apprenticeship route ideal for Teaching Assistants.
There are also several other local providers working in our area – please promote your local providers to any potential applicants.
Generate’s Strategic Lead Role
The DfE expanded all Teaching School Hub remits for this academic year to provide local support to Initial Teacher Training provision.
We are starting working with our regional teaching school hub partners to map local school engagement in teacher training across the Northwest region. This will support schools to input into the training reforms beginning in September 2024.
We would welcome schools in Halton, Warrington and Wigan sharing their understanding of local ITT provision. please click on this link to a short google form.
Local ITT Peer Network
On 22nd November we hosted another ITT network via Zoom – the first of our termly peer networks for local schools engaged in initial teacher training.
All phases of training are welcome to this informal advice and support network. The next meeting is 6th March 2024 at 3.30pm (venue tbc).
March’s meeting will focus on the new Intensive Teaching and Practice weeks starting for all ITT providers in September 2024.
Email teachertraining@wpat.uk for details of how to attend.
