ITT Secondary Maths Mentor Training
NW1 Maths Hub and Turing NW Maths Hub are working collaboratively to facilitate professional development to ITT and SCITT school-based mentors; to develop mathematics expertise of mentors in observation and feedback of Teaching for Mastery.
The training includes observation of a lesson, followed by reflection, deconstruction and feedback of the session with a mathematics subject focus.
Programme Aims for mentors:
- The training develops expertise in evidence-based mathematical approaches to teaching.
- Prepares mentors for their role in guiding and supporting trainees.
Participants can attend one, or both of these sessions.
Session 1: Thursday 30th January, 9:30am – 11:30am at St Peter’s RC High School, Kirkmanshulme Lane, Manchester, M12 4WB.
This 2 hour face-to-face session will be followed by school-based task. This will include an observation of a Teaching for Mastery lesson and a discussion of Mastery principles.
Session 2: Thursday 8th May (timings to be confirmed): 1.5 hours online followed by school-based task.
