The National Audit Office have recently published a report, designed to assess how well the current system is delivering for children and young people identified as having SEN. The report looks at the DfE’s progress is addressing the challenges to provide a sustainable system that achieves positive outcomes for children.

Conclusions, which can be read in full within this report, include:

• An increase of 140% in the demand of EHC plans, since 2015
• 1.14 million pupils in school require SEN support
