National Centre for Computing Education – Warrington’s local computing hub

We are pleased to share an update from The National Centre for Computing Education, which is the local Computing Hub for schools in Warrington. Please see below the update shared with us.

Our offering includes:

  • Comprehensive CPD Programmes: We provide a range of CPD courses, from KS1 to KS5, covering subject knowledge required for the computing curriculum and current pedagogy. Teachers are able to gain a recognised certification to show their dedication to developing their computing teaching further whether it is subject knowledge or teaching focused. We have had much success when schools work together to develop a CPD schedule that aligns with specific goals and requirements. All CPD is now fully-funded for state-maintained schools in England.
  • School-Level Support: Our hub offers hands-on support to help embed computing into your school’s curriculum. This includes access to expert advice, teaching resources, and ongoing mentorship to ensure sustained success. All school level support is fully-funded.
  • Computing Quality Framework: To help your schools continuously improve their computing education, we offer guidance on implementing the Computing Quality Framework (CQF). This free tool helps schools evaluate their current provision, identify areas for improvement, and develop a strategic plan to enhance their computing curriculum. Schools will be awarded recognised certificates during their journey through the CQF culminating in the Computing Quality Mark.
  • I-Belong Programme: We are passionate about fostering an inclusive environment in computing education. The I-Belong programme is designed to support underrepresented groups, encouraging diversity and inclusion within your schools, available for both primary and secondary schools. By participating, your schools can earn the I-Belong certificate and become champions of inclusivity.
  • Equipment Loans: To facilitate practical learning, we offer a variety of physical computing kits for loan, enabling students to gain hands-on experience to develop their computing knowledge further. Kits are available to loan for a half term, teachers are asked to complete the loan request here:
