Teacher Training

School Direct is an innovative approach to initial teacher training and a fantastic opportunity for aspiring teachers to ‘learn on the job.’

As part of the Generate Teaching Hub, Warrington School Direct is uniquely placed to design and provide an evidence-based programme of study which links to the latest educational research, curriculum design and national agendas. Our  school partnerships are wide and varied and enables a truly bespoke training experience with access to a broad range of opportunities for each of our trainees.

Our Training Routes

Warrington School Direct delivers local initial teacher training (ITT) programmes based on our long experience of primary and early years education. Over the years this has allowed us to increasingly specialise and offer the following routes leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS):

  • PGCE Primary (5 to 11);
  • PCGE Primary (3 to 7);
  • PCGE Primary with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (children aged 5 to 11).

Placement Locations

As one of the largest primary school direct providers in our region we have a wide range of partnership schools who agree to host our trainees each year. Our placement schools are mainly concentrated in the Warrington area with several other schools in Halton, St. Helen’s and Cheshire.

Why School Direct Works

School Direct is a school-led route into Initial Teacher Training.  Our full-time, non-salaried School Direct programme runs from early September to July and is a highly successful partnership between local schools and Liverpool Hope University (an accredited teacher training provider).

Warrington School Direct is proud of its outstanding team of mentors who support each of our trainees every step of the way.  With regular contact and personalised support available we have a high percentage of trainees graduating as ‘Outstanding’ and maintain our 100% pass and excellent employment rates year on year.
