Update on Newly Qualified Teachers (NQT) Funding
Update on newly qualified teachers (NQT) funding
The Department of Education has released a new update on NQT funding, this is not forn ECT:
“The induction for newly qualified teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic guidance, previously stated that a one-off payment was available to all state-funded schools with NQTs finishing induction in summer 2021.
This has been extended to all state-funded schools that have, or had, an NQT who completed their induction between the summer term 2021 and the spring term 2022.
Payment will be made in arrears in summer 2022, based on eligible teachers recorded in the school workforce census. Schools do not need to do anything else to receive this payment; the funding will be part of your normal payments from the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
Any state-funded establishments not included in the 2021 school workforce census that have or had an eligible NQT and wish to receive the payment, should email our continuing professional development team by Friday 13 May, stating their unique reference number (URN), the number of eligible NQTs and the completion date(s) of their induction.
If you wish to opt-out of this funding, please email our continuing professional development team by Friday 13 May.”
