Year 1 ECTs – January 2023 Cohort

This news page is for all Early Career Teachers who are started their ECF programme with Generate Teaching Hub in January 2023.

Preparing for Year 2

We are now well into the Autumn term and approaching the end of Year 1 of your ECF journey. Here at the Hub, we are starting to think about Year 2 of your programme. Year 2 consists of Development Cycles which are linked to your subject area or phase. This means that your training will be tailored to your primary phase (EYFS, KS1 or KS2) or, for secondary colleagues, your subject specialism. We also have a specialist SEND cohort for our ECT colleagues who work in SEND settings. Jen Hamer, our ECF Co-ordinator, will be in touch soon to gather some details so we can start to plan your training.

Module 6

You’re heading into the final half term of your first year of the ECF and Module 6 will give you the opportunity to use all you have learnt so far to consider how to design a carefully sequenced and coherent scheme of work.

You will develop curriculum design skills that will support you in designing a curriculum for the whole year, key stage of the entirety of a child’s school life. Exciting possibilities!

Don’t forget that attendance at seminars and engagement with Brightspace is monitored as part of your induction process so it’s really important that you attend your final seminars on 9th and 30th November 2023.

Statutory Requirement

We do know that schools are very busy places and there are often conflicting priorities. However, the ECF is a statutory requirement, so it is essential that you attend all the sessions and continue to engage with the activities on Brightspace, to ensure that you fully meet the ECF engagement criteria.
