Senior Mental Health Leader Grant

The Department for Education (DfE) announced in 2021 that schools can access a £1,200 grant for Senior Leader Mental Health (SMHL) training. This has continued in the academic year 2022/23. The closing date for applications in 31st March 2023.

Grants will cover, or contribute towards, the cost of DfE quality assured training for a senior member of school or college staff before 31st July 2023. All state-funded education settings are eligible for the grant.

The training will develop the knowledge and skills to implement an effective whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing in their setting.

Senior Mental Health Leader training is relevant to all education settings, and courses are available to meet the learning needs and preferences of senior leads regardless of their level of experience, type of setting or location.
