Registering an ECT

Registering an ECT is a two-part process, and both are important for different reasons. It is the Induction Tutors responsibility to complete both of these steps.

Firstly, ECTs must be registered with our Appropriate Body on ECT Manager for their induction. On ECT Manager, Induction Tutors will be able to complete ECT’s progress reviews and assessments. It is this that formally records their Induction and registers it with the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).

Secondly, ECTs and their mentors must be registered on what is informally known as the DfE portal, also known as ‘Manage training for Early Career Teachers’. ECTs and mentors will not have access to the online learning platform ‘Brightspace’ without this registration. Brightspace is an integral part of the Teach First Early Career Framework Programme.

ECTs will need to be registered before, or as soon as they start at your school.
